Top of The Mountain
Mount Kearsarge has been a focal point of the area since humans first cast their eyes upon it. It's been considered sacred by those who first saw it, the site of two hotels, and a source of lead, timber, and recreation. Today it holds two state parks, Winslow on the north side and Rollins on the south. Many visitors drive, walk, bike, ski, snowshoe, and snowmobile to the top each year. The top is 2,937 feet above sea level, a bare outcropping of granite that is home to a Fire Lookout tower and the now infamous cell phone and communications tower.
